The political advisor to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Vinod Verma, said he doesn’t have any illegal money after the Enforcement Directorate searched his home. He also said he has no connection with Chandrabhushan Verma, who was arrested along with three other people in a money laundering case related to an illegal betting app called ‘Mahadev Online Book’. The other three people arrested are Anil and Sunil Dammani, who are alleged hawala operators, and Satish Chandrakar. The Enforcement Directorate found that ASI Chandrabhushan Verma received around Rs 65 crore in cash. In simple words: He kept some of the money and gave the rest as bribes to important police officers and politicians. The ED, a government organization, searched the homes of Vinod Verma and two other government officials. Vinod Verma said he showed all the receipts for the jewelry found in his house, except for one piece that was a gift for his wife. However, they still took all the jewelry, saying it was his responsibility to prove how he paid for them. They even took the money we got as gifts in envelopes on my son’s wedding day. So, I am saying it was a robbery,” he said. Vinod Verma, who used to be a journalist and recently became a politician, said he has nothing. The ED says that I am involved in laundering 65 crore rupees, but I want to clarify that I do not have any of that money. The allegations from the ED are based on a made-up news article that was published in a magazine last year. This fabricated article falsely claimed that Chandrabhushan Verma is related to me. Last year in December, I reported a news article to the Durg police, asking them to investigate it. The person said that they promised to help the police with the investigation. However, they also said that they had met ASI Chandrabhushan Verma a few years ago and warned him that they would take action if he misused their name. They clarified that they are not related to ASI Verma. I want to know what evidence the ED and Centre have to prove that I am related to him. This raid is happening because of a made-up story and statement from just one person (arrested ASI) against me. Vinod Verma said he will go to court because there is no proof. He also said the ED acted on the orders of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi, who are trying to hurt the Congress party before the Chhattisgarh elections. The country’s leader is behaving like a dictator and attempting to eliminate his rivals in politics. The BJP is targeting everyone who works for Bhupesh Baghel, according to him. He also mentioned that they arrested him before the previous elections in a CD case. Vinod Verma also accused the government of promoting online gambling. The ED stated that ASI Chandrabhushan Verma used his connection with Vinod Verma and money from Dubai to influence important officials and politicians connected to the Chief Minister’s Office. The agency also said that the accused have specifically named high-ranking officials connected to the Chief Minister’s Office who have been receiving large sums of money regularly.
