Minister Jitendra Singh provided new information about ISRO’s Gaganyaan mission on Saturday.
The minister said that the tests for ISRO’s mission will start in the beginning of October.
He said the next part of the Gaganyaan mission will be to send ‘Vyommitra’ into space.
After these two stages, a small group of astronauts, usually between one and three people, will be sent into space as part of the manned mission of the Gaganyaan project. “I believe this might begin in 2024,” Singh stated.
‘Vyommitra’ is a robot that looks like a woman and is being created by ISRO. The name comes from two Sanskrit words: vyoma meaning space and mitra meaning friend. The humanoid was shown to the public for the first time on January 22, 2020 at a conference about space exploration in Bengaluru.
The Gaganyaan mission is a project where three astronauts will be sent into space for three days and then brought back safely to Earth. They will orbit 400 kilometers above the ground.
