In Chandigarh, on August 28th.
The Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, provided information about the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Gaganyaan mission on Saturday.
The minister said that the trials for ISRO’s mission will start in either the first or second week of October.
He said that the next part of the Gaganyaan mission would involve sending ‘Vyommitra’ into space.
After completing the first two stages, the Gaganyaan project will send between one and three astronauts for a manned mission. Singh said he believes this may begin in 2024.
‘Vyommitra’ is a robot that looks like a female and is being created by ISRO. The name comes from two Sanskrit words, ‘vyoma’ (which means space) and ‘mitra’ (which means friend). The humanoid was shown to the public for the first time on January 22, 2020 at a conference in Bengaluru about space travel and exploration.
The Gaganyaan mission is a project to send three astronauts into space for three days. They will orbit the earth at a distance of 400 kilometers and then return safely.
