Bhopal, August 8 – Kamal Nath, a senior leader from the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh, questioned the necessity of stating that India is a “Hindu Rashtra” when 82% of the country’s population is Hindu. He highlighted that our country has the largest Hindu population in the world. Most Hindus live here, about 82 out of 100. It is something that cannot be argued or discussed about. It’s something that shouldn’t be spoken about. These are facts and numbers. Why do we need to talk about them separately. This was Nath’s response when reporters asked for his opinion on Dhirendra Shastri’s request to make India a Hindu country. Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, gave a spiritual talk in Nath’s hometown Chhindwara, which ended on Monday. Nath, a former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, claimed that the government has not done enough to prevent mistreatment of tribal people in Manipur and Madhya Pradesh. “There is a conflict between tribal and non-tribal people, even as we are about to celebrate World Tribal Day on August 9,” he added. Nath said that 15 young people from Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh were beaten up by the owner of a private company in Gujarat’s Rajkot district, accusing them of theft. “They were held captive and four of them were seriously injured. A video showing terrible actions against them became very popular,” he claimed. Nath asked the chief minister of MP, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to explain what actions he has taken so far to address the “terrible actions” committed against young tribal people in Rajkot. He accused the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government of not being able to protect tribal people in MP, and mentioned specific incidents like the alleged rape of two ST girls in Rewa district and the shooting of a tribal youth in Singrauli district. When asked about Congress MLA Umang Singhar’s request for a tribal chief minister, Nath said, “In the end, it’s the people’s decision to choose the chief minister and everyone knows this. ” The state elections will be held later this year in Madhya Pradesh.
