France has given Prime Minister Narendra Modi a very big award called the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour.
It is the most prestigious award in France for both military and civilian achievements. Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to receive this honor.
In the past, important and famous people from around the world have received a special award called the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour.
They are famous people like Nelson Mandela from South Africa, Prince Charles from Wales, Angela Merkel from Germany, and Boutros Boutros-Ghali from the United Nations.
The honor is one of many top international awards and honors given to PM Modi by different countries.
Modi received a very warm welcome when he arrived in Paris for a two-day visit on Thursday. He will attend the French National Day celebrations on Friday as a special guest with President Emmanuel Macron.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, shared pictures on Twitter of an award ceremony that happened at the Elysee Palace. He mentioned that it was a kind and cooperative gesture symbolizing teamwork. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given the highest award in France, called the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, by President Emmanuel Macron.
The Prime Minister of India thanked President Macron for giving this special recognition on behalf of the Indian people, as per the Ministry of External Affairs.
Earlier, the President of France and First Lady Brigitte Macron had a special dinner for Modi at the Elysee Palace.
On Thursday evening, Modi talked to Indians living in a different country and said that they can now use UPI for payments in France. This allows Indians to use cashless instant payments in a big new market.
Modi gave a long speech to a excited crowd at a performing arts center on an island in the Seine river. He talked about India’s quick progress and said that while the world is changing, India’s power and role are also changing rapidly.
Modi said that a new Indian consulate is opening in Marseille, France. He also said that Indian students studying for a master’s degree in France will now be able to stay and work there for five years after they finish their studies.
Modi said that he is happy to be in France for their national day celebration. He mentioned that he has been to France many times before, but this time is especially meaningful because of the strong relationship between India and France. They are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their partnership.
He said that the connection between the people of India and France is very important for their partnership. He also asked Indian people living in other countries to invest their money in India.
