On Tuesday evening, violence erupted in Manipur when two communities began firing at each other in the Khoijumtambi area. Fortunately, the firing stopped after a while and no casualties were reported. Early Wednesday morning, another incident of firing occurred along the ridge line east of Phaileng, but again, there were no casualties. In response to the violence, a joint delegation of CPM and CPI Members of Parliament will be visiting Manipur from July 6 to 8 to assess the situation. The delegation will be composed of Bikashranjan Bhattacharya and John Brittas (Rajya Sabha members from CPM), Binoy Viswam, Sandosh Kumar P (Rajya Sabha members from CPI), and K Subba Rayan (Lok Sabha member from CPI).
