United States reaffirms its continued support for India’s permanent membership in reformed UNSC, NSG

The Biden organization has reaffirmed its obligation to help India’s extremely durable enrollment in a changed UN Security Council and New Delhi’s entrance to the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group.

In this unique situation, the US communicated its appreciation for India’s authority as the Chair of the three boards of the Security Council: the 1988 Taliban Sanctions Committee, the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee and the 1373 Counter-Terrorism Committee, it said.

Safeguard Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar drove the Indian assignment for 2+2, while the US side was addressed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Tony Blinken.

“The Ministers emphasized their obligation to cooperate in close coordination at the UNSC and in worldwide associations. The US reaffirmed its proceeded with help for India’s long-lasting participation in an improved UNSC and for India’s entrance to the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group,” said the joint articulation. PTI
